6 Picks for Boys

It was a series of unfortunate events today - taking both kids to the doctor, no naps, pooping in the bathtub. Mommy needed wine and shopping therapy. So I indulged in my love of Pinterest eye candy when both (finally) went to bed. I feel much better about Henry's craziness when I picture him in some Godzilla leggings. A few of my favorite finds for the little guy:

DIY :: Homebaked Snake Cake

Well, what do you think?

I know, that much green frosting is a little disturbing. But he's a happy snake.

The directions looked pretty easy so I upped my game a bit by following this recipe instead of going with the cake-in-a-box.

FYI - I couldn't find green frosting so I mixed food coloring into vanilla. I also couldn't find the candy for the tongue so I just cut a marshmallow in half and used more food coloring.

I'm not sure it tasted as good as it looked. The recipe was meant for a 2-layer cake. Snake directions required baking in a bundt cake pan, which took longer and I think made it a little dry. It didn't slow down the eating much though.

It was nice to have a little something that I could do for my boy to make his birthday even more special. Thanks to all who helped us celebrate Henry's birthday. Two great parties! Such a loved little boy.

It was a year ago that Henry happened....

I should look at these photos more often when he's cutting 4 teeth in a week, providing a 6am wake up call or laughing at me as I vainly attempt his afternoon nap.

henry happened . . .

CRASH!

Me running, "What happened?!"

"Henry," says Caroline.

 That's my little man, on a mission of destruction in the bathroom, taking out the sink and anything else in his path on the way to the cat's food & water bowls (he has a thing for cat food).

First Came Caroline . . .

And then 2 1/2 years later Henry happened . . . and my life turned upside down.

I left a six-figure, highly competitive, highly frenetic job to tackle the daily grind of school runs and dinner prep. After torturing myself with preschool playdates and nap schedules, my brain began to melt.

Don't get me wrong; I've never regretted my decision to stay with the little ones. They make me laugh every day. But this blog is dedicated to keeping creativity, curiosity and learning alive in the midst of crazy home life. I love learning from other strong, intelligent & successful women ~ they are my inspiration for creating a life filled with confidence, passion & authenticity.
