Brunch + Buttermilk = Yum
Brunch is pretty much my favorite meal. Usually Henry is sleeping, which lessens the pressure of 2 kiddos running around while getting food on the table. Plus I went through a major sausage phase so we signed up for the "breakfast share" in our CSA and have more pork products than we'll eat in a year.
Today's menu:
Spinach parmesan frittata
Sausages links
Cantaloupe
And my favorite biscuits from Ms. Ina - Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits
I was going to take a photo but we ate them too fast. So here's a glimpse of them found online.
This indulges my latest favorite ingredient - buttermilk. After I made Ina's yummy biscuits the first time, I was determined to not let the leftover buttermilk go to waste. First thought, pancakes. Having always relied on Bisquick, I realized the homemade version with this magic ingredient is pretty incredible.
I tried this recipe first which is pretty much the same as Martha's. Buttermilk is also a key ingredient in the Paltrow version, but I'm not ready to talk about that yet. (sigh)
And I had just enough left to make this pie which was out of this world yummy.
Any other buttermilk recipes I should try? What are your favorite secret kitchen ingredients?

Yes, I was there and the frittata and biscuits were fantastic! Steph is a really good cook, who knew she had so many talents??
Your secret is out....next time you're home, you get to do breakfast...(or brunch!) Bring on the pancakes, biscuits, and fritata!
Buttermilk is an ingredient that I usually never bought. Now, I am never without it in my fridge. Just made buttermilk banana bread that is fabulous. I have followed a blog called TwoPeasandtheirpod.blogspot.com. She has some terrific recipes. I've made quite a few. Another book you might like which is my all time favorite is called Goodness Gracious by Roxie Kelley. LOVE that cookbook.
Love the blog- check it all the time.
