DIY :: Grocery Flower Arranging
Mark sometimes comes home from the grocery with a surprise bouquet of flowers (read: we had a fight and he's apologizing by doing the grocery shopping).
I love the thought but not the Kroger arrangements (where do those blue dyed flowers come from?) I usually end up deconstructing the whole thing into several small arrangements.
Henry's party last weekend needed some flowers but I didn't want to spend much money. I bought this $10 bouquet (discounted 50% because it was a little past its prime, probably a V-day leftover) and went to work.

What I had to work with - there's more than you think in these things!
I like to use small containers, especially my mason jars. This time I used two JD Country Milk quart containers I had on hand from recent experiments with buttermilk.
The final result! Eight little arrangements I can enjoy throughout the house. Grouping them together is nice. The three blue vases went on the mantle and I put one tall rose and the single blossom together on a side table.
Any other budget flower tips out there? I don't buy them as often as a should. The flowers are still going strong almost a week later and it makes me smile every time I see them.
What are your favorite flowers?

Love your flower arrangements! So bright and colorful--and love the blue glass bottles. I am beginning to see daffodils popping out now---one of my favorites--a hopeful glimpse of Spring. And cheers to you, Mark, for bringing home flowers to your wife! Husbands, take a lesson.
