Mom Spy :: spotted at the zoo
What is Mom Spy? In the ongoing quest to discover what other moms know, I'm introducing a new series to peak into all things mom related: style secrets, refrigerators, birthday parties, weekend trips, etc.
First up, riffing on one of my favorites, The Sartorialist, I spotted this chic mom riding the carousel with her son at the zoo yesterday. I am, of course, loving the black and white stripe shirt. Add wedge sandals, pretty yellow scarf, turquoise bracelet? So jealous!
Don't you love seeing moms looking great out & about? Seems like every mom I see at Target looks stylish. Do you dress up to go to the grocery?

lol i wish. I am always in my mommy clothes it seem like. I feel like I don't even know what style is anymore. Hoping that as my littles get bigger I can get back into wearing normal clothing
When I was younger and my kids were young I did try and dress up when I went out in public. Now that I'm older and my kids are grown I just am a t-shirt and jean kind of girl.
Thanks for stopping by and joining out Twisted Thursday. My mom use to always dress up when my dad came home from work and she dressed up to go to the grocery so i just followed her tradition.
HA! I am very happy wearing my scuffy tennis shoes on any zoo outing! More power to this mamma for being able to wear these cute shoes!!!!!
Following back from Thursday Friends Cafe. :)

The grocery doesn't count as REAL public. Not in my house anyways. Anywhere else does, and I dress accordingly. I fight to keep some pre-baby habits up. It's worth it.
If I do not at least dress some what nice I am guaranteed to run into just about everyone...
ROFL...do I dress up? No, I am comfy in my jeans, sweatshirt and tennis shoes! I would trip all over if I was wearing those shoes...although I have to say, she looks great.
Thanks for linking up with us today for the Thursday's bloghop. Love that you joined us and I am your newest follower! Happy Thursday!
You wouldn't believe how bad I look when I shop. Sweat pants, T-shirt, no bra and my winter coat zipped up to hide it Lol!
Thanks for joining our hop today. I'm following you back!
I used to be totally anti-sweatpants, but I bought a cute pair from AE and now I wear them allllll the time. Okay, not literally all the time, but you know what I mean. And then I go out and see people like the one in your picture and feel like a huge loser in sweatpants and Pumas and I just want to crawl back to my hole and watch re-runs of 90210 and eat Triscuits.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment on my post about comments. :)
Hi , excited to find your blog through blog hopping. I’m your new follower!

I can relate to this mom on the carousel--I always strive to look like a fashion plate whenever I go out, whatever the occasion.....and by the way, if you believe this, I have some beachfront property I'd like to show you....LOL !
Mom - you are too funny. Glad you are cracking yourself up. :)
I'm not at all stylish, but I'm okay with that! I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. I wear my pajamas to the bus stop. The first week of kindergarten this year, I was getting up early, getting dressed and putting on makeup. After a week of that, and seeing other people in their jammies, I set the alarm later, slept in, and went with the "rolled out of bed" look. So much easier!
I'm following you from the Twisted Thursday hop.

I always said I wanted to be the hip happening put together mom when I went out but now I realize that I will probably never be that girl. I still hope for it one day but as long as I am at least dressed I figure I am ok to leave the house. Cute blog! I can't wait to read more.

girl, that is the baby sitter.
I get dressed to go to the grocery store, does that count? lol. If I had the wardrobe I would flaunt it, however, my clothing is last on my priority list these days.

I'm always in a pony tail and jeans lol
What a fun feature! I always love checking out other moms and seeing them look more stylish than me. Once in a while I'll put in the effort, but at the zoo I'm sure I'm in jeans and tennis shoes or flip flops. This is definitely one chic mom (I love that you snapped her pic)!
Thanks so much for joining us for Friendly Friday, have a great weekend!
Are yoga pants and a sweatshirt considered dressing up? What if I wear Uggs with them? LOL, I wish I was one of those moms but just seeing that lady with her shoes make my feet hurt!
I'm a new follower and your "blog buddy"! I am loving your site! Mom Spy is awesome and I totally envy those moms that are and looking great. Most days I'm lucky if I am showered and/or have my hair combed. :) Wouldn't change it for anything though.
I am always sort of envious of the stylish Moms I see out and about! I always seem to see them on the days where I am doing good to get myself and my 3 sons out the door with everyone fully clothed and teeth brushed, forget looking stylish! Stumbled you. :)

It's always nice to see moms lookin' good while they're out. It makes me a little jealous because I am always the one there in jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. Stumbled ya!

I have 8 kids. For years I was doing well just to get out of my jammies. But I've started back to work and needed to upgrade to a more professional look than "frumpy housewife". I love that there are moms that can stay chic through the years of little ones. Any wash and wear tips you want to share?
Europeans dress up to go everywhere. I think sometimes we are just lazy!

Um, no, I do not. But it makes me feel like I should start. I feel like such a slug now. Is it wrong to go to the grocery store in sweats? If it counts, I always carry a good bag!
Stumbled you...would love if you could stumble me back:

I'm not even yet a mom, but I'd love to be as stylish and cute as the one in your picture!
I found you through the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop hosted by underserving grace. My blog is www.lovemymrmason.blogspot.com (it's the musings of a southern almost 30 baby government lawyer about things that make me smile and remind me that the world is good. including but not limited to funny happenings, decorating, fashion, my sweet dog and my Math Man, and my general dorkiness)
I am SO impressed when I see a mom put together like that...a feat that I can pretty much never accomplish!

Heels? Pedicure? She's already way ahead of me and I haven't even gotten to the clothes and hair.
*sigh* no I don't look put together at all... ever....
Stumbled! I hope you come to Stumble Tumble Tuesday again this week.
Hey, I just had a thought. I bet she doesn't read blogs either. I'm happy with my unpolished toes and extensive blog reading ;)
