happy | Goodwill, Spray Paint & Red

Goodwill has become my refuge. I think I could hang out there for hours, looking through all the books, furniture, clothes.... My basement has become littered with "projects" - I think I need this support group.

So to give me some motivation to get moving on these projects, I'm going to share a series of Before & Afters and some of my favorite finds.

Last week was a good week: I loaded up the minivan (ok, it took 2 trips) with a desk (more on that later), a desk chair, an adorable WALL-E esque lamp, and a chair for my first upholstery project (more on that later too).

Up first, the $9 lamp. The before shot:

My first spray paint project! I went for red. I love red. And now I'm in love with spray paint. I ended up searching the house for things to paint. 

Next up, another $9 find: this desk chair.

I took off the seat and got a little help from Caroline in painting it a glossy white.

I removed the bazillion staples holding the fabric to the cushion. Then I used the old fabric to cut a new cover from some fabric (yes, red) I had picked up at Ikea a while back. Then staple gunned it to death back onto the old cushion. So easy!

What do you think? I love how it looks with an old antique white desk that I already had. It will eventually move into Caroline's room after she gets her big girl bed.
